Multijet & PD Water Meters
For smaller size water meters (from 1/2" to 2") Beta Valve offer multi jet and positive displacement water meters from Arad, these meters benefit from MID and WRAS approval.
Water meters using the multi-jet principle offer a good compromise when it comes to choosing between accuracy, long life and meter cost. Arad's multijet meters incorporate wide flow paths in the measuring chamber which minimises the pressure drop across the meter, this and the negligible area of contact between static and moving parts are the main reasons for the high reliability of this design even in hard water.
Designed primarily as a water meter for residential use the Arad Gladiator series of positive displacement water meters offers reliability with high accuracy. The rotating piston turns within its chamber as the water flows through the meter, each piston revolution equating to a known volume of water. The piston movement is transferred by a magnetic coupling to the register dial by the appropriate reduction gearing.
The Concentric version of the Gladiator is tailor made for the UK market allowing easy fitting into underground water meter pits, several hundred thousand of these meters are currently in service in the UK. The in-line versions are available with 1" and 3/4" threads for mounting on 3/4" and 1/2" pipe.
